FEATURES
🏰 【A compelling and expressive Premier Cru from one of Vosne-Romanée's most sought-after climats, the 2003 Sylvain Cathiard Aux Malconsorts showcases remarkable harmony and finesse despite the warm vintage, offering depth, sensuality, and aromatic complexity.】 The 2003 vintage was warm, adding richness and generosity while preserving the domaine's signature elegance. The extreme temperatures of 2003 produced wines of exceptional concentration and richness, and Cathiard managed to infuse this wine with more freshness than typical for the vintage. Aux Malconsorts is renowned for producing wines of depth, sensuality, and great aromatic complexity, bordering the legendary La Tâche vineyard. Expect a bouquet of ripe black cherry, plum, wild strawberry, layered with violet, sweet spice, and subtle earth. With age, tertiary aromas of leather, forest floor, and dried herbs have emerged. Full-bodied and velvety on the palate, with a generous core of ripe fruit balanced by fine-grained tannins and a polished structure. Long, supple finish marked by spice, dark fruit, and mineral undertones. Darker, deeper, and spicier aromatically.
🍴 Excellent with roasted duck, pan-seared foie gras, truffle-infused dishes, and fine game meats.
🥂 A magnificent choice for a significant anniversary, a special celebration, or a profound tasting experience for serious Burgundy collectors.
Serving Suggestion: For a wine of this age (2003), expect a beautiful evolution of tertiary aromas. The cork and capsule may be delicate, so open with care. Decanting for 1-2 hours is generally recommended to allow the wine to breathe and shed any sediment, but monitor its evolution closely as very old wines can sometimes fade with excessive air exposure. Serve at cellar temperature, around 16-18°C (60-64°F).
