FEATURES
🏰【A classic Pauillac from a strong vintage, representing the historical legacy of what is now Chateau Clerc Milon, offering a glimpse into its elegant past.】 The 1985 vintage in Bordeaux was widely considered excellent, producing charming, ripe, and well-balanced wines that were enjoyable relatively early but also capable of aging. Chateau Mouton Baronne Philippe was the former name of Chateau Clerc Milon, a 5ème Cru Classé estate in Pauillac. This wine would offer a mature expression of Pauillac, with notes of blackcurrant, cedar, tobacco, and a hint of graphite, a medium-bodied palate with softened tannins, and a graceful, persistent finish. 🍴 This mature Pauillac is wonderful with roasted duck, beef tenderloin, or a rich mushroom gratin. 🥂 Perfect for a sophisticated dinner, a special occasion, or a historical tasting for Bordeaux enthusiasts.
BACKGROUND
Château d'Armailhac, Old name is Chateau Mouton Baronne Philippe, is a wine estate in the Pauillac appellation of the Médoc. As Mouton d'Armailhacq it was ranked as a fifth growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. The vineyard is located to the south of the village of le Pouyalet, immediately next to Mouton Rothschild and nearby Pontet-Canet. It covers 172 acres (70 hectares) and is planted with 52 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 36 percent Merlot, 10 percent Cabernet Franc and 2 percent Petit Verdot. Grapes are fermented in 23 gravity-fed stainless steel vats, sized according to different parcels in the vineyard. The wine is aged for 18 months in oak; one-third new, one-third in one year old and one-third in two-year-old barrels.
