Fontaine Gagnard, Batard Montrachet Grand Cru, 1990
🏰【A magnificent expression from the "outstanding" 1990 vintage, the Fontaine Gagnard Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru embodies the pinnacle of white Burgundy, offering immense depth, opulent fruit, and profound minerality from this revered Grand Cru vineyard.】 The 1990 vintage was an outstanding year for white Burgundy, celebrated for its richness, concentration, and excellent aging potential, resulting from a warm growing season that yielded ripe and opulent wines with good acidity. Fontaine-Gagnard is a highly respected producer, and Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is renowned as one of the most powerful and opulent white Burgundies. Expect a wine with immense depth, notes of ripe yellow fruit, honey, toasted nuts, and butter, underpinned by profound minerality, culminating in a long, powerful, and complex finish, now showing glorious maturity.
🍴 This grand white Burgundy demands equally grand pairings, such as lobster thermidor, roasted turbot with beurre blanc, rich poultry dishes with cream sauces, or aged Comté or Gruyère cheese.
🥂 An unparalleled choice for a truly momentous celebration, a vertical tasting of Grand Cru Burgundies, or a profound experience for the most discerning white wine connoisseur.
