Patrice Rion, Nuits Saint Georges Premier Cru Clos Saint Marc, 2009
🏰The 2009 Patrice Rion Nuits Saint Georges Premier Cru Clos Saint Marc hails from a premier cru vineyard, the Clos Saint Marc (also known as Aux Corvées), in the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation of the Côtes de Nuits. This is the smallest monopoly appellation in Nuits-Saint-Georges, with vines averaging 60 years old. The wine is hand-harvested and matured in oak barrels, with about 50% new oak, for 18 months.
【This Nuits-Saint-Georges offers powerful and complex aromatics of bacon, strawberry, and redcurrant, evolving into savory notes of sour cherry and cedar, with a dominant wild cherry and typical Nuits warm-earth aroma.】 The palate reveals a dense matter with incomparably silky tannins, providing a rich, meaty texture and a balanced finish supported by minerality and complexity.
🍴 Its noble, strong character makes it an excellent match for juicy, meaty dishes such as roasted lamb, Tournedos Rossini, and duckling.
🥂 A distinguished red 布根地, this wine is perfect for a sophisticated fine dining experience, a dedicated Burgundy tasting, or for further cellaring to allow its complex character to unfold.
Serving Suggestion: This wine will benefit from another 3 to 5 years in bottle and can age well for 7-15 years. Serve at around 16-17°C.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Patrice Rion was founded in 2000 by Patrice Rion, who already had nearly 20 years of winemaking experience. The winery owns high-quality vineyards in Chambolle-Musigny and Nuits-Saint-Georges. In 2003, the first-class vineyard Clos Saint-Marc was acquired. The winery’s only top vineyard, Bonnes Mares, is now out of print. It is very rare and very small, only 0.06 hectares, and only one barrel can be brewed.
