Ghislaine Barthod, Chambolle Musigny Les Fuees 1er Cru, 2000
🏰 The 2000 Burgundy vintage was generally very good, particularly for reds in the Côte de Nuits, which enjoyed healthier conditions. It was a red-fruit rather than black-fruit vintage, with frequent references to raspberry notes. While some wines were best for early drinking, brilliant examples from the Côte de Nuits could be age-worthy. The vintage produced pleasant wines with plenty of sweet fruit, though some found them lacking in complexity compared to 2001. Expect a charming, open, and fruity profile, with notes of red berries like raspberry, possibly evolving with age to show more complex tertiary characters. The tannins would be soft and mature. 【Côte de Nuits的優雅紅果表現】
🍴 This red Burgundy is excellent with roasted chicken, duck breast, mushroom risotto, or delicate game birds. Its red fruit character would also complement dishes with berry-based sauces.
🥂 This wine is ideal for a dinner party with friends or a celebratory meal where a charming and approachable, yet refined, red Burgundy is desired. It's drinking well now but the best examples can still offer enjoyment.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Ghislaine Barthod is one of the most prominent producers in the Chambolle-Musigny appellation of Burgundy, known for its intense, ageworthy wines from the Pinot Noir grape variety. The estate was founded by Marcel Noëllat in the early 20th century. Marcel's daughter married Gaston Barthod, an officer in the French army stationed in Dijon. They developed the domaine together over the decades. After Gaston's death in 1999, their daughter Ghislaine took over, having managed the estate for the previous decade. Ghislaine and her partner Louis Boillot combine vineyard work across their respective domaines, but the estates are run separately and the wines are produced in their respective wineries.
