🏰 The 2015 Thierry Allemand Cornas Chaillot is a Northern Rhône Syrah that is truly hitting its stride. This vintage is celebrated for its concentration and structure, and this wine is 【just starting to enter its prime with a decade of age, offering classic Cornas notes and remarkable clarity】. Expect a deep lurid ruby hue, with a heady bouquet of smoke- and spice-accented boysenberry, cherry liqueur, and violet, gaining a hint of olive with aeration. The palate is sweet and broad, delivering deeply concentrated yet energetic dark berry preserve, cola, and floral pastille flavors, alongside a suggestion of spicecake. The finish is extremely long and velvety, echoing juicy, sweet blue fruit and harmonious tannins. While still super young, it promises further evolution.
🍴 This robust Syrah is a fantastic match for rich, savory dishes. Consider roasted lamb with herbs, slow-cooked beef stews, game meats like venison, or mature, hard cheeses. For an Eastern touch, try it with a hearty Peking duck or a deeply flavored Korean galbi.
🥂 This wine is perfectly suited for a sophisticated dinner party, a gathering of serious wine enthusiasts, or as a prized addition to a cellar for future enjoyment. Its complexity and aging potential make it a conversation starter.
BACKGROUND
Thierry Allemand is a leading producer of wines from the Syrah grape in the Cornas region of the Northern Rhone Valley. Renowned for their varietal expression and velvety texture, the wines have a loyal following and the estate was formed by Alleman starting in the 1980s by purchasing large areas of small abandoned land. Less than 5 hectares (12 acres) in size. Only 500 cases of the top Les Chaillots and Reynard cuvées are available, always in short supply.
