🏰 The 2008 M. Chapoutier Ermitage L'Ermite Blanc is an **【extraordinary expression of Marsanne, imbued with the potent personality of the Rhône region】**, showcasing a mesmeric dance between power and finesse. Unquestionably a candidate for the wine of the vintage in the entire Rhône Valley, this biodynamically farmed white offers complex aromas of vanilla, almonds, dried fruits, and linden-tree, with marked minerality. Expect almond paste, crushed rock, orange, mango, and pineapple aromas, along with gorgeous layers of a liqueur of rocks-like note typical of this terroir. The palate is very round and rich, with an elegant balance, ripe white fruit aromas (peach and apricot), and a beautiful length. It presents vibrant acidity with lush, evolved flavors after over a decade in bottle.
🍴 This magnificent white wine is perfect with rich fish (like salmon or tuna), lobster, poultry in sauces, and white meats. It also pairs wonderfully with goat's cheese, blue cheese, mild creamy cheeses, mature strong cheeses, spicy dishes, and curry.
🥂 An exceptional choice for fine dining, a special occasion celebrating white wine excellence, or a treat for connoisseurs of aged Rhône whites. Its complexity and aging potential make it a truly memorable experience.
BACKGROUND
Maison M. Chapoutier is one of the most recognizable producers in the Rhône Valley. It is known for its wines from both the north and south of the valley, but in particular for its red and white Hermitage wines, made from Syrah and a blend of Marsanne and Roussanne, respectively.Outside of the flagship vineyards in Hermitage, Chapoutier has vineyards across the Rhône, including plots in Côte Rôtie, Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Condrieu. These span both single-vineyard expressions and generic AOC-level wines. Chapoutier also makes regional Côtes du Rhône wines, and has viticultural interests in Australia (Domaine Tournon), Portugal and Alsace.
