🏰 The 1996 vintage for red 布根地 was characterized by pure, elegant wines with excellent aging potential. A very warm June led to swift flowering, followed by an unsettled summer and a cool August. However, late August and all of September were sunny and dry with cool nights, which effectively preserved acidity in the grapes. This resulted in a large crop of extremely healthy grapes with high sugars, excellent acidity, and deep colors. While initially controversial due to high acidity, many 1996 reds have proven to be slow-burners, taking decades to become charming, with some marvelous bottles emerging in the long term. The reds generally stayed 'dumb,' retaining both their fruit and acidity, and the Côte de Nuits showed more consistency.
Chambertin Grand Cru wines are known to express the exceptional character of a grand terroir and are famous for their exotic wine aromas. For a 1996 Chambertin, expect an intense ruby red color with lush red fruit aromas, good tannin structure, and concentrated Pinot Noir flavor. Over time, these wines develop complex notes of forest floor, truffle, and savory undertones, balanced by a persistent freshness. 【A Grand Cru Chambertin, representing the pinnacle of Pinot Noir expression from a renowned terroir.】
🍴 This Grand Cru 布根地 pairs exquisitely with finely prepared roasted or stewed meats such as beef, lamb, pork, game, or duck. A classic pairing is beef tenderloin served with a red wine reduction. It also complements poultry dishes like roast chicken and quail, as well as game meats and pan-seared sirloin. Medium to mature cheeses, including Epoisses, are also excellent companions.
🥂 This wine is ideal for milestone celebrations, serious wine tastings, or a luxurious meal where the profound depth and elegance of a top-tier 布根地 are desired.
