FEATURES
🏰The 2000 Burgundy vintage was generally considered 【very good, especially for red wines from the Cote de Nuits】. While some wines were destined for early drinking, brilliant examples from the Cote de Nuits could prove age-worthy. It was a red-fruit rather than black-fruit vintage, with frequent references to raspberry notes. Gerard Mugneret's Vosne-Romanee Aux Brulees 1er Cru comes from vines planted in 1939 and 1944, with the vineyard sitting on shallow soils over fractured bedrock. This 1er Cru is known for its elegance, solid structure, and silky tannins, resulting in very harmonious wines.
This 2000 Gerard Mugneret Vosne-Romanee Aux Brulees 1er Cru, now beautifully mature, is likely to display a 【complex bouquet of ripe red berries, spices, and evolving tertiary notes】. Expect aromas of leather, earth, toasted notes, and vanilla, with incredible complexity. The color will likely be a fiery red darkening to garnet with a touch of crimson, showing signs of graceful aging. On the palate, it should be rich, full-bodied, racy, powerful, and charming, with tannins that bring a velvety side. Mature Vosne-Romanee often develops notes of cherries-in-brandy, preserved fruits, leather, fur, and gamey/woodland scents. It's a very mineral wine with tons of grip, known for aging incredibly well. While some 2000 Burgundies were showing signs of losing fruit by 2008, the best examples, especially from the Cote de Nuits, have lasted much better than expected.
🍴 This spicy, opulent, and meaty Vosne-Romanee is ideally suited for strongly-flavored meats with a fibrous consistency. Excellent pairings include jugged venison, a rib of beef, good-quality poultry, patiently oven-roasted lamb, or roast feathered game. A thick cut of lean, firm-textured beef or even foie gras poele can also be delightful. It also pairs well with intensely-flavored cheeses such as Epoisses, Langres, or Citeaux.
🥂 Perfect for a special anniversary, a celebratory dinner, or a contemplative tasting among connoisseurs. This mature 1er Cru offers a rewarding experience. Given its age, careful handling of the cork and capsule is advised. Decanting for 1-2 hours before serving at 16-17°C (60-62°F) will allow its complex, evolved aromas and flavors to fully express themselves.
