FEATURES
🏰 The 1990 Richebourg Grand Cru is a testament to a benevolent climatic milieu, resulting in a wine of exceptional refinement and beauty. This vintage is noted for its stupendous depth and complexity, offering dark fruit-dominated aromas with discernible notes of soy, hoisin sauces, cherries, and raspberries. It presents a brilliant ruby color and a powerful yet paradoxically refined palate with a smooth, building intensity. James Suckling rated a 1990 Richebourg Grand Cru 96 points, describing it as dense, rich, opulent, and velvety with a very long finish. Robert Parker also gave it 95 points, noting its clear and deep color. This satin-textured wine remains youthfully vibrant and is expected to benefit from additional cellaring, with a projected maturity extending to 2040. 🍴 For a wine of this caliber and age, consider pairing it with classic, rich dishes. Think roasted duck with a touch of spice, prime rib, or even a coq au vin. For an Asian twist, consider dishes with soy and hoisin notes to complement the wine's aromatic profile, such as slow-braised short ribs or a rich mushroom and truffle risotto. 🥂 This exquisite 1990 Richebourg Grand Cru is perfect for a milestone anniversary, a significant birthday celebration, or an intimate gathering of serious wine connoisseurs. It's a wine that demands attention and appreciation, making it ideal for moments when you want to truly impress and savor a piece of Burgundy's history. Given its age, expect some bottle variation and be prepared for potential cork and capsule fragility. Decanting at 16-18°C is recommended to allow its complex aromas to fully unfold.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Moillard is a Burgundy wine merchant with a long history located in the Côte d'Or. It has land in the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune, and half of its production reaches the first-class level. Produces a range of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Aligoté wines. The domaine is located in Nuits-Saint-Georges, but its 20 hectares (49 acres) of vineyard land stretch from Vougeot in the north to Volnay in the south. The domaine also owns land in several top vineyards and 73 hectares (180 acres) of organically farmed land in the Languedoc. The domaine was founded in 1850 by Symphorien Moillard and was managed by the family until 2008, when it was sold to Vincent Sauvestre.
