🏰 The 1982 Perrier Jouet Belle Epoque Rose is a rare and exquisite vintage Champagne, a true collector's item that offers a 【glimpse into the elegance and longevity of exceptional rosé Champagne】. While specific tasting notes for this exact vintage are scarce due to its rarity and age, Belle Epoque Rose is renowned for its delicate floral notes, red fruit aromas, and a creamy, persistent mousse. Older vintages would likely showcase evolved notes of dried fruits, brioche, honey, and a profound complexity that only time can impart, maintaining a remarkable freshness for its age. The 1982 vintage in Champagne was generally considered good, producing wines with balance and aging potential.
🍴 This venerable rosé Champagne, with its evolved complexity, would be best paired with delicate yet rich dishes that won't overpower its subtle nuances. Think pan-seared scallops with a light cream sauce, roasted guinea fowl, or even a refined lobster bisque. For a truly luxurious experience, consider pairing it with caviar or delicate pâtés. Avoid overly spicy or heavy red meat dishes.
🥂 This is a wine for a truly momentous occasion, a significant anniversary, or a very special celebration where the wine itself is the star. It's a testament to history and craftsmanship. When serving, handle the bottle with extreme care due to its age. The cork may be fragile, so a Durand opener or similar tool is recommended. Serve chilled, but not ice-cold, around 10-12°C (50-54°F), to allow its complex bouquet to unfold. Decanting is generally not recommended for old Champagne, as it can dissipate delicate aromas too quickly. Be prepared for a potentially softer effervescence than younger Champagnes.
BACKGROUND
The vineyards of Perrier-Jouët encompass 65 hectares (161 acres), with each plot being picked and vinified separately before being blended into its eventual cuvée. The blend is chosen by current cellar master, Herve Deschamps, who is just the seventh cellar master in the house's history. Chardonnay is used above Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier and gives a house style that is fruit-driven, floral and elegant. The wines are then aged for a minimum of three years underground in Perrier-Jouët's chalk cellars before release.
