Meo Camuzet, Vosne Romanee Aux Brulees 1er Cru, 2021
🏰news | features + short tasting note
The 2021 Meo Camuzet Vosne-Romanée Aux Brûlées 1er Cru is a highly acclaimed 布根地 Premier Cru, praised for its 【expressive and overtly floral nose】 and its exquisite harmony between concentration and natural charm, reflecting the domaine's precise approach in a cooler vintage. This wine reveals a deep ruby red hue. The nose offers remarkable intensity with aromas of 【dark wild berries, spices, orange zest, gunpowder, leather, forest floor, and a floral tobacco dimension evoking smoky minerality】. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, displaying 【concentration and richness with layers of red fruit woven around powdery, silky tannins】, leading to a lingering finish with spicy accents and a steely coolness.
🍴 Chinese Cantonese food pairing
This premier cru pairs beautifully with roasted poultry (especially with wild mushrooms), duck breast with cherry reduction, or Bresse guinea fowl. For Chinese cuisine, consider roasted pigeon (紅燒乳鴿), Cantonese roast duck (廣式燒鴨), or stir-fried venison. Refined meats such as beef tournedos, veal fillet with mushrooms, sweetbreads with cream and truffle, porcini risotto, scrambled eggs with truffles, and creamy cheeses like Brillat-Savarin or Époisses are also excellent pairings.
🥂 fit for event suggestion
An elegant choice for a sophisticated dinner, a celebratory meal, or a special gathering where fine 布根地 is appreciated. While offering immediate pleasure, it also has good aging potential for at least ten years.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Meo-Camuzet is located in the village of Vosne-Romanee, France. The estate employs organic fertilizers and advanced cultivation techniques to maintain ecological balance in the vineyards. Coupled with the exceptional terroir and the legacy of Henri Jayer, Jean-Nicholas' efforts have elevated the estate to a top-tier winery in just a few decades. In 2003, Jean-Nicholas founded the négociant business Méo-Camuzet Frères et Soeurs. Although the grapes are purchased, the team personally supervises the vineyards to ensure the quality of the grape sources.
