🏰 The 2012 Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova is a beautiful wine that recalls many of the stunning characteristics found in its high-scoring predecessors. The 2012 vintage in Montalcino experienced a mild winter until February, followed by significant snow and frost, which provided crucial water reserves for the growing season. Spring and summer were quite dry, leading to lower yields but allowing grapes to ripen slowly and regularly. This vintage is noted for its ripe fruit, depth, and freshness, excelling despite climatic extremes. The wine undergoes 36 months of aging in oak barrels and an additional six months in bottle. It is considered one of the most impressive wines from the 2012 vintage, with remarkable depth and balance. 【A sensational effort from a vintage of climatic extremes】.
This Brunello presents complex aromatics of blackberries, cherries, leather, floral notes, spices, dried soil, graphite, and freshly ground coffee. It is deep ruby in color, clear and bright. On the palate, it is full-bodied and velvety with beautifully polished tannins. The cherries carry through with an underlying minerality and nice acidity. It shows wonderful freshness as it expands on the finish, leaving gorgeous red fruits, leather, and exotic spices lingering. This wine is drinking well now and should continue to age gracefully over the next decade and beyond.
🍴 Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino 2012 pairs exceptionally well with rich, savory dishes. Think traditional Tuscan fare like wild boar ragu, Bistecca alla Fiorentina, or aged Pecorino cheese. It also complements roasted lamb, beef stews, and grilled pizza.
🥂 This is an outstanding wine for a celebratory dinner, a special anniversary, or a sophisticated wine tasting event. Its complexity and aging potential make it a fantastic addition to any serious wine cellar. Serve at 16-17°C (61-63°F).
