🏰news | features + short tasting note IN ENGLISH
【A finely structured red Burgundy from a resilient vintage】 The 2008 vintage in Burgundy was initially challenging but ultimately produced wines of good acidity, structure, and finesse, often requiring time to show their best. Marquis d'Angerville's Volnay Taillepieds 1er Cru, a highly regarded red 布根地, is known for its elegance and minerality. This 2008 expression likely offers a delicate bouquet of red cherries, wild berries, and floral notes, underpinned by a distinct earthy or stony character. The palate should be precise and vibrant, with firm yet refined tannins and a refreshing acidity that promises excellent aging potential.

This elegant red Burgundy would be superb with roasted game birds like pheasant or quail, delicate lamb dishes, or a mushroom risotto. It also pairs beautifully with aged Comté or Gruyère cheese. For an Asian pairing, consider a light Cantonese roasted duck or a refined stir-fried beef with asparagus.

BACKGROUND
Domaine Marquis d'Angerville is a Burgundy producer focusing on Pinot Noir from highly regarded vineyards in the Côte du Beaune, France. The domaine gained fame in the 1920s when it began to make and bottle its own wine, at a time when the common practice was for élevage and bottling to take place in the hands of négociants. Marquis d'Angerville circumvented the négociants entirely by commercializing its own wine, becoming one of the leading producers to do so. Since the death of Jacques D’Angerville in 2003, the running of the estate is currently overseen by his son Guillaume.
