FEATURES
🏰【Rated 95 points by James Suckling, the 2021 M. Chapoutier Saint-Joseph Le Clos is a distinguished Syrah, celebrated as one of the finest from the appellation, showcasing exceptional depth and character】. This wine is crafted from a small 0.98-hectare vineyard on coarse black mica granite soil, reflecting M. Chapoutier's commitment to biodynamic practices since 1991. The 2021 vintage in the Rhône Valley was a difficult growing season, yet this wine is considered among the crème de la crème. It presents a dark, garnet black appearance with purple highlights. The nose offers lovely notes of dark fruit (cherry, blackberry), beautiful minerality with graphite notes, wild berries, dried flowers, raw chocolate, peppercorns, crushed stones, and hints of roasted meat. On the palate, it is superb, focused, vibrant, and pure, medium-bodied with finely grained tannins, plenty of energy, bright acidity, and a mineral-driven, laser-focused finish with length. Some also note a sumptuous nose of fresh fig, cassis, and blueberries, with hints of flowers and leather.
🍴 Pairs beautifully with grilled meats and refined cheeses. Lamb is also an excellent match. Consider a slow-cooked lamb shank or a perfectly grilled ribeye steak.
🥂 Ideal for a sophisticated dinner party, a special celebration, or a tasting focused on top-tier Northern Rhône Syrah. This wine is ready to drink but also has excellent aging potential (ready 2026-2038). Decant for 1-2 hours to allow its full complexity to unfold. Serve at 16-18°C (60-64°F).
