🏰The 2020 Domaine Francois Raveneau Chablis Grand Cru Valmur is already being hailed as 【one of the legends of the vintage, a "magical young wine in the making" that is arguably the most classically Chablisien of Raveneau's Grand Cru bottlings this year】. This concentrated and chiseled Chardonnay, from a vintage with a decent crop and dry summer conditions, offers an elegant bouquet of iodine-inflected aromas, confit citrus, crisp green orchard fruit, white flowers, and a profound base of limestone minerality. The palate is full-bodied, focused, and gorgeously structured, with vibrant acidity, flavors of green apple, lemon zest, and a hint of saline minerality, culminating in a driving, bone-dry, and hugely long chalky finish. It's a big yet impeccably well-balanced effort that should easily repay 12 to 15 years of cellaring, with some suggesting it can drink between 2032-2085.
🍴This magnificent Chablis Valmur Grand Cru is a perfect match for premium seafood. Think fresh oysters, grilled scallops with a light lemon dressing, lobster thermidor, or pan-seared turbot. Its vibrant acidity and minerality also complement delicate poultry dishes, creamy risottos, or goat cheese.
🥂An exceptional wine for serious collectors and connoisseurs, ideal for a grand celebration, a special seafood feast, or as a cornerstone for a long-term cellar. This wine promises an incredible evolution and a truly splendid drinking experience for decades to come.
