🏰【From a historic and prestigious estate, Bonneau du Martray Corton Grand Cru 1989 is a mature red Burgundy offering profound complexity and a glimpse into a classic vintage.】 This robust and opulent wine reveals a diversity of aromas including red fruits, woody nuances, and floral touches. The structure is tannic yet supple, with a beautiful persistence on the palate.
🍴 Western: Furry or feathered game, roast beef (grilled or in sauce), soft cheese. Eastern: Braised duck, rich mushroom dishes, aged char siu.
🥂 A truly special occasion, a significant anniversary, or a deep dive into aged Burgundy with fellow enthusiasts. Remember, for wines of this age, the cork and capsule can be fragile, so open with care. This is a venerable bottle, and while it promises a unique journey into aged red Burgundy, be mindful that older wines can show bottle variation. Expect a more evolved, tertiary profile rather than fresh fruit. Handle the cork and capsule gently.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Bonneau du Martray is a highly regarded wine producer based in the village of Pernand-Vergelesses, in the Côte de Beaune subregion of Burgundy's Côte d'Or heartland, France. The domaine was founded by the Bonneau family following the French Revolution, but the vineyards already had a reputation for producing exceptional wines. It is estimated that vines have exsisted here since Roman times and that emperor Charlemagne was a devotee – to the red wines in particular.
