🏰【Nicolas-Jay Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2015】is a highly acclaimed collaboration between celebrated Burgundian winemaker Jean-Nicolas Méo (Domaine Méo-Camuzet) and music entrepreneur Jay Boberg, known for blending Burgundian traditions with quintessential Oregon terroir to produce a rich, expansive, and beautifully balanced Pinot Noir. The 2015 vintage in Willamette Valley was one of Oregon's warmest on record, yet a cooling trend in September preserved freshness, allowing skilled producers like Nicolas-Jay to craft concentrated, fruit-forward Pinot Noirs with genuine structural balance. This wine is a blend from various Willamette Valley sub-AVAs, often sourced from biodynamic, organic, and LIVE certified vineyards. It presents a medium ruby color with a sublime nose of black cherry, wild strawberries, raspberries, cranberries, violets, cassis, smoke, fresh loamy soil, cedar spice, and hints of earth and tobacco leaf. The palate is rich, expansive, and luxurious, displaying bright, almost juicy fruit (strawberry, plum, cherry, wild blackberry) supported by intense minerality, fine acidity, and resolved, medium, chewy tannins. It's described as delicate, complex, layered, and polished, with a long, seamless finish that can show subtle oak spice and earthy tertiary tones. This wine is already beautifully evolved and has impressive aging potential, capable of developing gracefully for 10-20 years.
🍴 This versatile Pinot Noir pairs wonderfully with roasted duck, grilled chicken, turkey, seared wild salmon, potato gnocchi with red wine braised oxtails, thyme-roasted duck breast with orange-wine sauce, mushrooms, truffle risottos, root vegetable dishes, and soft cheeses like Brie or Camembert.
🥂 An excellent choice for a sophisticated dinner party, a special anniversary, or a gathering of wine lovers appreciating a nuanced and age-worthy Oregon Pinot Noir.
For optimal enjoyment, decant for one to two hours before serving. Serve at 14-16°C (57-61°F). This wine will continue to evolve beautifully with age.
