🏰The 2000 Rayas Chateau de Fonsalette Reserve Syrah is a 【highly sought-after Rhone Valley red, known for its smoky and spicy aromas of bacon fat, coffee, earth, herbs, leather, and pepper, intertwined with refreshing blackberry, black cherry, and raspberry notes】. This Syrah blend, potentially with Viognier, offers a complex and elegant profile.
🍴 Côte Rôtie (a similar Syrah blend) pairs best with hearty dishes like cassoulet, beef brisket, venison, duck, beef stroganoff, lamb, and rabbit. Its bold fruitiness and medium acidity cut through the richness of fatty meats like roasted duck. Consider herb-crusted rack of lamb or venison stew.
🥂 Ideal for a connoisseur's dinner or a special gathering, this wine is perfect for those who appreciate a powerful yet refined red with significant aging potential. It's a wine that demands attention and offers a memorable experience.
BACKGROUND
Château Rayas is a leading producer in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation of the Rhône Valley, France. It is one of the region's most prestigious estates, and its wines fetch some of the highest prices in southern France. The estate covers 22 hectares, with 15 hectares dedicated to vineyards. Most of their vines are planted to Grenache. The estate's red wine is made solely from Grenache. The château's white Châteauneuf-du-Pape is generally made from Grenache Blanc and Clairette in roughly equaly proportions. Château Rayas has been in the Reynaud family since the 1880s.
