FEATURES
🏰 The 2014 Burgundy vintage, despite a difficult start, produced a good quality crop, particularly for reds in the Côte de Nuits. After a mild, dry spring and early flowering, the summer saw lukewarm, drizzly weather before improving significantly from mid-August. While hailstorms severely impacted the Côte de Beaune, the Côte de Nuits was less affected. The reds from 2014 are described as refined and concentrated without being overbearing, offering a freshness suitable for early drinking, yet with enough character for long-term cellaring in the best examples. Many 2014 reds are balanced, have great texture, and deliver successive waves of flavor, giving the impression they will "never close". Thierry Brouin of Clos des Lambrays even believes 2014 is a "great vintage that may be overlooked". Georges Mugneret Gibourg's Echezeaux Grand Cru 2014 is a 【divine Echezeaux Grand Cru from a challenging yet rewarding vintage】. It boasts a beautiful deep red color and a very elegant nose, expanding with scents of raspberries, well-matured cherries, and spices. The palate is fresh, refined, and very elegant. Tasting notes also highlight a well-defined bouquet of dark berry fruit, loam, forest floor, and truffle scents, which become expressive after rigorous aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, featuring black fruit laced with graphite and tar, and hints of licorice towards the end. It offers ebullient red cherry, raspberry, and vanilla scents, with an intense, mineral-rich finish and a saline tang. This wine is pure and inward, with blueberry and spice notes, leading to a long finish. 🥂 This Grand Cru is an exceptional choice for special celebrations, fine dining experiences, or for collectors of high-quality Burgundy. It has proven to age gracefully and will continue to evolve beautifully. 🍴 Ideal food pairings include roasted duck, game birds, mushroom risotto, and classic beef bourguignon. Its elegance also makes it a superb match for aged cheeses.
