Georges Mugneret Gibourg, Echezeaux Grand Cru, 2011
🏰 The 2011 Georges Mugneret Gibourg Echezeaux Grand Cru is a robust yet elegant Burgundy red, known as 【a 'pleasure' vintage that delights with its beautiful clear and bright color and an important aromatic range dominated by black fruits】. The 2011 vintage was an early crop with good berry maturity, crafted by the Mugneret sisters who have elevated the domaine to the upper echelon of Burgundy estates. The palate structure is precise and ample, providing elegance with a long aftertaste on refined tannins. It offers a fragrant, autumnal, and leafy bouquet with ripe black fruit – blackberry, bilberry intermingling with freshly tilled soil. Medium-bodied with a saline entry, it shows a palpable marine influence with hints of iodine and seaweed, leading to a structured finish. Expect a dark and muscular nose of blackberries, floral spices, and dense meaty fruits, with superb concentration and alluring new oak spices.
🍴 This Grand Cru pairs wonderfully with duck, goose, and other game birds.
🥂 An excellent choice for a celebratory dinner or a serious tasting, this Echezeaux Grand Cru should age extremely well over two decades.
