🏰A mature Grand Cru from Louis Latour, a historic Burgundy producer, the Corton Grancey Grand Cru 1988 offers a rare opportunity to experience a beautifully aged Pinot Noir from a classic vintage. The 1988 vintage in Burgundy was known for producing wines with good structure and excellent aging potential. Expect 【evolved tertiary aromas of dried red fruits, forest floor, mushroom, and subtle leather, intertwined with hints of tobacco and spice】. The palate would be elegant, with softened tannins and still-present acidity, leading to a long, complex finish where the fruit character has gracefully transitioned to more savory, earthy notes.
🍴 This magnificent wine is an ideal companion for roasted game birds like pheasant or partridge, classic French dishes such as coq au vin or beef bourguignon, or mature cheeses like Epoisses and Comté. Truffle dishes or roasted lamb would also be exquisite pairings.
🥂 A magnificent wine for a significant anniversary, a connoisseur's tasting, or a very special dinner. This 1988 Corton Grancey Grand Cru has gracefully matured, and proper serving will enhance your experience. The cork may be delicate, so use a reliable corkscrew. Decanting for 30-60 minutes is often beneficial for older red Burgundies to allow them to open up and shed any sediment, but be mindful not to over-aerate. Serve at cellar temperature, around 16-18°C (60-64°F).
