FEATURES
🏰 The 1979 vintage in 布根地 was generally considered a good, if not exceptional, year, producing wines that were often charming and approachable in their youth, with some capable of aging gracefully. For a Grand Cru like Clos Vougeot from a respected producer like François Lamarche, even in a less heralded vintage, the wine can offer a fascinating glimpse into the past. Older wines like this are a testament to 布根地's aging potential, showcasing how Pinot Noir can evolve into complex, ethereal expressions. Specific tasting notes for François Lamarche Clos Vougeot Grand Cru 1979 are not in the provided snippets. However, a well-aged Clos Vougeot Grand Cru from a good producer would typically exhibit tertiary aromas of dried roses, forest floor, leather, tobacco, and subtle spice, layered over faded red fruit. The palate would be elegant, with silky tannins, a delicate structure, and a long, nuanced finish. Expect a wine that has softened considerably, offering a harmonious blend of savory and earthy notes. 【A rare, aged Grand Cru 布根地 from a historic vintage, offering a profound journey into Pinot Noir's evolved complexity】. 🥂 This 1979 vintage is a true relic, and handling it requires care. The cork may be fragile, so use a Durand opener or an Ah-So to minimize breakage. Stand the bottle upright for several days before opening to allow any sediment to settle. Decanting is recommended for older wines to separate the wine from its sediment and allow it to breathe gently, but be mindful of its age; a brief decant (30-60 minutes) might be sufficient to awaken its aromas without overexposing it. Serve at a cool cellar temperature, around 16-18°C (60-64°F). 🍴 This mature Clos Vougeot would be best paired with equally refined and subtle dishes. Think roasted squab, delicate game birds, mushroom tarts, or a simple roast chicken with herbs. Avoid overly rich or spicy foods that could overpower its delicate nuances. Aged Comté or Gruyère cheese would also be a delightful match. 🥂 This is a wine for a very special, intimate occasion, perhaps a significant anniversary or a gathering of serious wine enthusiasts who appreciate the beauty and fragility of aged 布根地. It's a wine for contemplation and quiet enjoyment, a liquid history lesson.
BACKGROUND
François Lamarche is a historic winery located in the village of Vosne-Romanée, France. The primary grape variety is Pinot Noir. The winery was founded in the early 20th century by Henri Lamarche and his wife, Marie Grivelet, both of whom hailed from Burgundy and had extensive experience in wine production. In 2019, the current owner, Nicole Lamarche, officially renamed the winery to Domaine Nicole Lamarche, and from the 2018 vintage onwards, the wines no longer bear the name of the former owner, François Lamarche.
