🏰The 2011 Calem Vintage Port is an extraordinary sample of Vintage Port perfection, hailing from a universally declared and highly regarded vintage that many consider the best since 1994, and perhaps even better. The 2011 vintage in the Douro Valley provided near-perfect growing conditions, resulting in wines of stunning quality, purity of fruit, and superb structure.
【This dense and super juicy Vintage Port is loaded with super-ripe black fruit aromas and violet fragrances, featuring dusty, opulent, and solid tannins alongside amazing acidity.】 Robert Parker rated it 93-95 points, noting its reserved nose with broody blackberry, fig, and ashen aromas, a silky smooth and sensual palate with copious dates and cassis, and a style that should age beautifully. It's described as a real stunner with sweet fruit aromas, notes of raisins and dates, and a flavor of dense fruit with a silky soft acidity.
🍴 Vintage Port is perfect served with strong cheeses like Stilton, blue cheese, or mature cheddar. It also pairs wonderfully with chocolate truffles, gingerbread, dates, and walnuts. For a more savory pairing, consider rich desserts or even a crème caramel.
🥂 The 2011 Calem Vintage Port is an excellent choice for a celebratory occasion, a festive gathering, or as a thoughtful gift for a newborn to be opened on their 40th or 50th anniversary. Vintage Ports are made for long aging, and this 2011 is expected to develop for at least 40 years. It should be drunk with a minimum of 8 years old, but can be appreciated with more than 50. As Vintage Ports throw sediment, the bottle should be kept upright for some hours before decantation. Decant to separate the wine from its deposit. Serve at around 16-18°C (60-65°F).
