🏰 The 2015 vintage in the Rhône Valley was exceptional, widely regarded as one of France's greatest vintages of all time, producing wines of immense intensity and superb balance. M. Chapoutier's Ermitage Le Pavillon 2015 is a 【monumental expression of Syrah from Hermitage, showcasing incredible concentration, structure, and aging potential】. This wine is known for its deep color, powerful aromas of dark fruits, black pepper, and savory notes, with a full-bodied palate, firm tannins, and a long, complex finish.
🍴 Chinese Cantonese food pairing: This formidable Hermitage red would be magnificent with slow-braised oxtail in a rich red wine sauce, roasted pigeon with five-spice, or a hearty beef brisket hotpot. For Western cuisine, consider grilled prime rib, venison loin, or strong, aged hard cheeses.
🥂 fit for event: A truly impressive wine for a significant celebration, a serious tasting of top Rhône wines, or a special occasion where a powerful and age-worthy red is desired. Decanting for at least 2-3 hours is highly recommended to allow its complex layers to unfold. Serve at around 17-18°C.
BACKGROUND
Maison M. Chapoutier is one of the most recognizable producers in the Rhône Valley. It is known for its wines from both the north and south of the valley, but in particular for its red and white Hermitage wines, made from Syrah and a blend of Marsanne and Roussanne, respectively.Outside of the flagship vineyards in Hermitage, Chapoutier has vineyards across the Rhône, including plots in Côte Rôtie, Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Condrieu. These span both single-vineyard expressions and generic AOC-level wines. Chapoutier also makes regional Côtes du Rhône wines, and has viticultural interests in Australia (Domaine Tournon), Portugal and Alsace.
