FEATURES
🏰 A prime example of St-Estèphe's aging potential, the 1999 Chateau Montrose is a classically styled wine that has gracefully matured, offering impressive balance and depth. Robert Parker awarded it 90 points, noting its surprisingly powerful and dense character for the vintage. This wine pours a dense purple, with a complex nose that, though initially shut, opens to reveal notes of 【tobacco, cigar, black fruit, earthy cassis, graphite, and forest floor】. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, ample, and open-knit, with softened, silky tannins and evolved complexity. Expect rich aromas of 【black fruits, pipe tobacco, loamy soil, sweet new oak, brown tobacco, dark chocolate, and blackcurrant】, alongside vibrant notes of 【iodine, tar, sandalwood, and intense blueberry fruit】. A keen line of acidity and lovely 【cedar and pencil box notes】 lead to a long, velvety finish. 🍴 This mature Bordeaux pairs beautifully with traditional French cuisine. Think roasted lamb with herbs, beef tenderloin with a rich reduction, or a hearty mushroom and truffle dish. It also complements aged hard cheeses wonderfully. 🥂 Ideal for a sophisticated dinner party, a special anniversary, or a tasting focused on mature Bordeaux. Its evolved complexity makes it a contemplative and rewarding experience. When serving, be aware that older vintages may have fragile corks; a Durand opener is recommended. Decant gently for 1-2 hours to allow the wine to fully express itself and separate from any sediment. Serve at cellar temperature, around 16-18°C (60-64°F).
