【Chateau Bahans Haut Brion 1994, the esteemed second wine of First Growth Chateau Haut-Brion, offers a rare opportunity to experience the pedigree of this legendary estate at a mature stage, showcasing its classic elegance and potential for graceful aging.】 Specific vintage information for the 1994 Chateau Bahans Haut Brion is limited. As a 30-year-old Bordeaux, expect a wine that has evolved significantly. It would likely display tertiary aromas of cedar, tobacco, leather, and dried fruits, with a softened fruit profile. The tannins would be well-integrated and smooth. The color would be a mature garnet with brick-orange edges.
🍴 Chinese Cantonese food pairing various types of suggestion east or west corresponding to wine cost IN ENGLISH
This mature Bordeaux would be an excellent companion to classic Cantonese roasted squab (紅燒乳鴿), braised goose (滷水鵝), or a rich beef stew with star anise. For Western cuisine, consider roasted lamb with herbs, beef Wellington, or aged hard cheeses like Comté or Cheddar. The wine's evolved character calls for dishes with depth and savory notes.

An ideal choice for a special anniversary, a sophisticated dinner party, or a vertical tasting of Chateau Haut-Brion wines. It's a wine for contemplation and appreciation of its historical significance and graceful evolution.
Serving an older wine like this 1994 vintage requires care. Expect potential for old cork and capsule issues. Decanting is highly recommended to remove sediment and allow the wine to breathe gently, but do so immediately before serving. Serve at cellar temperature, around 16-18°C (60-64°F).
It is a full-bodied red wine from Bordeaux, France, with rich flavors of dark fruits, spices, and a hint of oak, complemented by a long, satisfying finish.
BACKGROUND
Château Haut-Brion is the oldest of Bordeaux's five first growths, and one of the most famous wines in the world. Located in Pessac-Léognan, south of the city of Bordeaux, France. The majority of the estate's 51 hectares (126 acres) of vineyard is planted to red varieties with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot covering 48 hectares (118 acres) while three hectares (7.5 acres) are given over to Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. The vineyards were established in the 1530s by the Pontac family, changing hands several times throughout the ensuing centuries. Historical evidence shows that Haut-Brion was drunk by King Charles II and Thomas Jefferson, and the famous London diarist Samuel Pepys was also a fan of the wine.
