【Jean-Yves Bizot's Vosne Romanée Vieilles Vignes is a cult Burgundy, highly sought after for its natural winemaking and profound expression of terroir】. The 2002 vintage in Burgundy was generally excellent, offering a beautiful balance of ripeness and freshness, making it a highly regarded year for Pinot Noir. Bizot is known for his meticulous, low-intervention approach, often employing whole cluster fermentation and minimal sulfur, resulting in wines of exceptional purity and complexity.
Expect an elegant and aromatic profile, with classic Vosne Romanée notes of 【ripe red cherries, wild strawberries, and a delicate floral perfume of violets and roses】. Underlying these primary fruits, you might find hints of 【forest floor, subtle spice, and a distinct minerality】. The palate is typically refined, with silky tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, ethereal finish that speaks of its old vines.

This exquisite Pinot Noir is a perfect match for roasted poultry like duck or guinea fowl, delicate game birds, or mushroom-based dishes such as truffle risotto. It also pairs wonderfully with classic Burgundian fare like Coq au Vin or a refined beef bourguignon, and a selection of mild, aged cheeses.

BACKGROUND
Domaine Jean Yves Bizot is a small Burgundy wine producer located in the Côte de Nuits, making Pinot Noir on several small plots of the Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru vineyard and the Grand Cru chézeaux vineyard. It also produces small amounts of Chardonnay at the village and Burgundy Blanc levels, and has plots in Massanai and Burgundy Chapit. The total area of the estate is just over three hectares. The current incarnation of the domaine was founded in 1995, when Jean Yves Bizot, a professor of oenology, inherited the domaine and vineyards from his family and followed a largely unconventional winemaking process.
