🏰 The 2009 Jean-Yves Bizot Bourgogne Le Chapitre hails from an exceptionally good Burgundy vintage, producing plump, attractive wines with excellent concentration and fruit at the village level. Despite a challenging July, a warm August and timely September rains led to generally excellent wines with rich, concentrated fruit and heady aromatics. The reds, in particular, were noted for their good tannin levels beautifully covered by fruit.
This Pinot Noir offers a 【hedonistic and enjoyable experience】, characterized by its plump fruit and good concentration. While some may be entering a semi-closed stage, many provide excellent drinking.
🍴 This versatile red Burgundy is a natural fit for almost any poultry dish, from roast chicken with herbs to coq au vin or duck breast with orange sauce. For vegetarian options, mushroom bourguignon or roasted root vegetables are excellent choices. In a Cantonese context, try it with roasted pigeon or char siu (barbecued pork).
🥂 Ideal for a relaxed yet elegant dinner, a gathering with friends, or a special occasion where a charming and approachable Burgundy is desired. It's a wine that appeals broadly to red wine drinkers.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Jean Yves Bizot is a small Burgundy wine producer located in the Côte de Nuits, making Pinot Noir on several small plots of the Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru vineyard and the Grand Cru chézeaux vineyard. It also produces small amounts of Chardonnay at the village and Burgundy Blanc levels, and has plots in Massanai and Burgundy Chapit. The total area of the estate is just over three hectares. The current incarnation of the domaine was founded in 1995, when Jean Yves Bizot, a professor of oenology, inherited the domaine and vineyards from his family and followed a largely unconventional winemaking process.
