The 2009 Coche-Dury Meursault Les Rougeots hails from an exceptionally good vintage for Burgundy, marked by an unseasonably warm spring that led to early budburst and flowering. This particular wine is celebrated for its brilliant management of acidity, a notable achievement in what could be a challenging vintage for white Burgundies. Critics have lauded it as a first-rate village wine that easily attains 1er Cru quality.
On the palate, this Meursault is medium to full-bodied, ample, and layered, offering fine depth and concentration at its core, balanced by ripe acids and a charming, gourmand profile. Aromas burst forth with toasted sesame, pastry cream, ripe pears, vanilla pod, and clear honey. Some tasters also detect orchard fruit, lemon, pineapple, butter, herbs, and floral notes. Despite its age, it can present as surprisingly fresh. 【Brilliantly managed acidity in a challenging vintage, achieving 1er Cru quality from a village appellation】.
🍴 Food pairing suggestions include classic white meat dishes such as chicken and turkey. Its richness and acidity would also complement creamy seafood dishes or aged hard cheeses.
🥂 This compelling village wine is ideal for a special dinner or a sophisticated gathering where a high-quality, aged white Burgundy would be appreciated. It's approachable and enjoyable in its youth but also possesses excellent aging potential. As a 17-year-old wine, it's entering a beautiful aged phase. Decanting is recommended to allow it to fully open up and express its complex aromatics. Please handle with care, especially with older corks and capsules, and serve at a cool cellar temperature (around 12-14°C) to best appreciate its nuances.
