FEATURES
🏰 The 1978 vintage for Bordeaux began with a challenging damp and chilly spring, but conditions improved significantly with warmer, drier weather towards the end of summer. This Chateau Carbonnieux, a red Bordeaux blend, is now fully mature and offers a classic bouquet of aged claret. Expect notes of cigar box, old leather, stewed black fruits, and spicy red bell pepper oak. The palate is smooth and extended, with a medium-bodied structure and a decent smoky note that flows from entry to a balanced finish. Some tasters have noted a beautiful garnet red colour with subtle berry notes and a hint of toffee, alongside Graves earthiness and minerality. 【A classic, fully mature Bordeaux from a historic estate, offering a complex bouquet of tertiary aromas.】 🍴 This mature Bordeaux is an excellent partner for a range of classic meat dishes. It pairs wonderfully with beef and venison, veal, pork, lamb, duck, game, roast chicken, and various roasted, braised, or grilled preparations. It can also complement Asian dishes, hearty fish courses like tuna, mushrooms, and pasta, as well as a selection of cheeses. 🥂 This 1978 Chateau Carbonnieux is ideal for a special occasion, perhaps celebrating a significant milestone year, or for those who truly appreciate the nuanced complexities of a well-aged claret. It is drinking beautifully now. *Serving Advice for this Aged Wine:* This 1978 Bordeaux is fully mature and should be handled with care, as older bottles can be fragile. The cork and capsule may be delicate, so use an appropriate opener. Stand the bottle upright for several days, or even a week, to allow any sediment to settle at the bottom. Decant gently just before serving to remove sediment, or pour carefully, leaving any sediment in the bottle. Serve at cellar temperature, around 15.5°C (60°F), to allow its complex aromas to unfold and to enhance its freshness.
