D'auvenay, Auxey-duresses Les Clous, 2002
White
750ml
Label : Very Slightly Stained Label
Level : Neck Level
🏰 The 2002 Domaine d'Auvenay Auxey-Duresses Les Clous, a white Burgundy, comes from the esteemed Lalou Bize-Leroy, known for her meticulous biodynamic practices and exceptionally rare, high-quality wines. The 2002 vintage in Burgundy was generally excellent for white wines, producing wines with both richness and acidity, offering good aging potential. Domaine d'Auvenay's Auxey-Duresses Les Clous, though a village-level wine, often transcends its classification due to Leroy's unparalleled winemaking, exhibiting a buttery and complex style with notes of apricot, apple, peach, almond, brioche, and roasted nuts. 【 Lalou Bize-Leroy's rare and exceptionally high-quality expression of Auxey-Duresses 】.
🍴 This complex white Burgundy is a superb match for poultry, such as roasted chicken or turkey. Its buttery and nutty notes would also complement rich pasta dishes, cured meats, or shellfish. Consider a creamy chicken fricassee or a delicate truffle pasta to highlight its elegance.
🥂 This wine is perfect for a connoisseur's tasting, a celebratory meal, or an intimate gathering where a truly special and rare white Burgundy is appreciated. Its depth and evolving character make it a fascinating experience for those who appreciate the pinnacle of Chardonnay winemaking.
BACKGROUND
Domaine d Auvenay is a small Burgundy wine estate located in Saint-Roman. It is the third entity in the Leroy empire, named after Lalou Bize-Leroy and was previously run by her husband Marcel Bize until his death in 2004. There are 4 hectares (10 acres) of vines, but these include plots of the Grand Cru Mazis-Chambertin, Bonnes-Mares and Bâtard-Montrachet, as well as a handful of top cru vineyards, including Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières and Meursault les Gouttes d 'Or.
