🏰 From the legendary Domaine d'Auvenay, owned by Lalou Bize-Leroy, this Auxey-Duresses 2003 is a rare white 布根地 that defies expectations, showcasing the producer's ability to craft extraordinary wines even from more 'humble' appellations and challenging vintages. While specific notes for the 2003 are scarce, expect a wine of 【remarkable youthfulness and profound complexity】. D'Auvenay's Auxey-Duresses (Chardonnay) typically offers intense white peach and candied peel fruit flavors, a chalky and chewy texture, and a long finish. Other vintages reveal notes of toasted nut, popcorn, yellow fruit, vibrant acidity, floral, fruity, sharp mineral, butter, and cream, with a powerful mix of gunpowder and crisp green apples evolving to reduced pear sauce, subtle mint, citrus, and deep minerality.
🍴 Recommended with chicken and turkey. Given its potential richness and complexity, it would also pair beautifully with roasted poultry, creamy seafood dishes, or a mature Comté cheese, allowing its intricate layers to shine.
🥂 A highly sought-after and rare wine, this is perfect for a very special occasion, a connoisseur's tasting, or a significant anniversary, offering a truly unique and memorable experience. Serve at cellar temperature to appreciate its nuances.
BACKGROUND
Domaine d Auvenay is a small Burgundy wine estate located in Saint-Roman. It is the third entity in the Leroy empire, named after Lalou Bize-Leroy and was previously run by her husband Marcel Bize until his death in 2004. There are 4 hectares (10 acres) of vines, but these include plots of the Grand Cru Mazis-Chambertin, Bonnes-Mares and Bâtard-Montrachet, as well as a handful of top cru vineyards, including Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières and Meursault les Gouttes d 'Or.
