🏰 The 2019 Calera Pinot Noir Jensen Vineyard, crafted from 【coveted old vines over 40 years old】, delivers stunning depth, elegance, and layered complexity. This Pinot Noir is celebrated for its refined and polished character. On the nose, expect enticing aromas of ripe plum and persimmon, flirting with dramatic black fruit undertones. The palate is lush and mouth-filling, striking a seamless balance between energetic red berry flavors and deeper notes of black cherry and blackberry, gliding to a long, resonant finish. Critics also note hints of strawberries, orange peel, hazelnut, and a juicy, focused profile.
🍴 This versatile Pinot Noir is a fantastic match for a wide array of dishes. Consider roasted poultry like chicken or turkey, grilled vegetables, or charcuterie and cured meats. It also shines with truffle-based dishes, pork, root vegetables, or even goat cheese and brie.
🥂 Perfect for a sophisticated dinner party with friends, a cozy evening by the fireplace, or a special meal where you want a wine that offers both complexity and approachability.
BACKGROUND
Calera Wine Company, founded by Josh Jensen in 1975, is a pioneer of Pinot Noir in California. Jensen sought out limestone-rich soils in the Mt. Harlan AVA of the Central Coast, inspired by his time working in Burgundy. The Jensen Vineyard is one of the estate's original and most prestigious plantings, producing Pinot Noirs of exceptional complexity, elegance, and aging potential.
