Gros Frere Et Soeur, Grands Echezeaux Grand Cru, 1996
🏰 The 1996 Gros Frere et Soeur Grands Echezeaux Grand Cru is a red 布根地 (Burgundy) wine from a highly regarded Grand Cru vineyard. The 1996 vintage in 布根地 for red wines was generally considered very good, producing wines with excellent structure, firm tannins, and vibrant acidity, allowing for significant aging potential. At nearly three decades old, this wine is a testament to the longevity of top 布根地 Grand Crus. Expect a complex aromatic profile with notes of red and black fruits, evolving into nuances of forest floor, truffle, and cocoa with age. 【A classic expression of a mature 布根地 Grand Cru with exceptional aging pedigree.】
🥂 This venerable Grand Cru is perfect for a truly special occasion, perhaps an anniversary or a milestone celebration, where its history and complexity can be fully appreciated. It's a wine for connoisseurs and collectors.
Serving Advice for a 1996 Vintage: Wines of this age can be delicate. Handle the bottle with extreme care, keeping it upright for several days before serving to allow any sediment to settle. Be prepared for a potentially fragile cork and consider using an Ah-So opener or a Durand. Decanting is often recommended for older red 布根地 to allow it to breathe and shed any sediment, but do so gently and just before serving to avoid over-exposure to air, which could diminish its delicate aromas. Serve at a cellar temperature of 16-17°C (60-62°F).
🍴 The finesse and intensity of Grands Echezeaux make it an ideal match for sophisticated dishes. It pairs beautifully with finely prepared red meats, such as roast duck in a sweet and sour sauce, beef Wellington, beef tournedos, or roast chicken with chanterelle mushrooms. It also complements all types of game, stews, marinated red meats, and mature cheeses like Époisses or Brillat-Savarin.
