🏰 The 1995 Les Forts de Latour is a **remarkable and mature second wine** from Chateau Latour, offering a full-bodied experience with structured Cabernet Sauvignon, rich dark fruit, and classic Pauillac elegance, making it a match for many classed growths. Les Forts de Latour is considered one of the finest second wines of Bordeaux. The 1995 vintage showcases structured Cabernet Sauvignon with rich dark fruit, firmly grounded in gravel soils, and offers layered power and elegance, reflecting Pauillac's classic balance. Jancis Robinson noted its dark crimson color with a little age at the rim, beefy, bloody notes on the nose, and a palate that is already quite soft and round with fine tannins. It's described as more substantial than the 1996 Forts, vigorous and powerful.
🍴 This magnificent Bordeaux pairs exquisitely with beef, venison, roasted or grilled red meats, lamb, and game.
🥂 A superb example of a mature Bordeaux, suitable for a grand dinner, a special anniversary, or a serious tasting of aged wines. It can be enjoyed now with food but still possesses significant life.
BACKGROUND
Chateau Latour is one of Bordeaux's wines and the world's most famous wine producers. It is situated in the southeast corner of the Pauillac commune on the border of Saint- Julien, in the Medoc region. Typically for the region, Cabernet Sauvignon dominates in the vineyard, accounting for around 80 percent of plantings. Merlot makes up most of the remainder, and there are also small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The grand vin is only made from the vineyard plots surrounding the chateau and shown on the 1759 plan of the domaine. Latour makes two other wines: Les Forts de Latour and Pauillac de Latour, both of which are made from younger vines.
