🏰Mommessin's Clos de Tart 'Forge de Tart' 2018 is a 【highly sought-after expression from a historic Grand Cru vineyard】, offering a glimpse into the exceptional terroir of Morey-Saint-Denis. The 2018 vintage in Burgundy was generally warm and generous, producing wines with ripe fruit, good concentration, and supple tannins, making them approachable in their youth yet capable of aging.
This Pinot Noir showcases a deep ruby color. On the nose, it reveals complex aromas of ripe red and black cherries, wild berries, and subtle earthy undertones, interwoven with hints of violet and delicate spice from oak aging. The palate is rich and velvety, with a beautiful balance of fruit, acidity, and fine-grained tannins, leading to a long, elegant finish.
🍴 This exquisite Burgundy red pairs beautifully with classic French cuisine. Consider serving it with roasted duck breast, coq au vin, or a delicate beef bourguignon. It also complements aged cheeses like Comté or Époisses, and mushroom-based dishes.
🥂 An ideal choice for a special anniversary dinner, a sophisticated gathering of wine connoisseurs, or a celebratory meal. It's also a fantastic wine to cellar and enjoy its evolution over the next decade or more.
BACKGROUND
Clos de Tart is a winery located on a Grand Cru single-pole vineyard in Côte d'Or in Burgundy. It dates back to the 12th century when the convent was built by the Cistercian nuns of Notre Dame de Tate. In 2017, French billionaire François Pinault purchased the domaine for more than $260 million. The vineyard covers 7.5 hectares (18.5 acres) and received Grand Cru status in 1939. The estate only produces two wines, both from Pinot Noir, the Grand Cru Clos de Tart and the Premier Cru La Forge de Tart, which carries the Morey-Saint-Denis designation.
