🏰 The 2014 vintage was challenging for Italian wineries, including Bolgheri, with rainfall and changeable weather. However, Le Macchiole put in hard work and commitment, resulting in lower yields but amazing fruit quality. Messorio, a 100% Merlot, is Le Macchiole's interpretation of the grape in Bolgheri, considered one of Italy's most representative Merlot-based wines. The 2014 Messorio, while initially shy and austere due to cooler growing conditions, offers dark plum, blackberry, tobacco, cedar, and leather notes. It has bright acidity, chewy but smooth tannins, and a long, slightly savory finish. 【One of Italy's most representative Merlot-based wines, showcasing elegance and complexity even in a challenging vintage】.
🍴 This full-bodied Merlot pairs wonderfully with roasted lamb, beef ragu, grilled steak, aged Pecorino, and mushroom risotto. It also complements Peking duck and char siu.
🥂 Ideal for a sophisticated dinner, a special gathering, or as a wine to cellar for further development. While drinkable now, it will benefit from a few more years to fully integrate and soften.
