Joseph Drouhin, Chambertin Clos de Beze Grand Cru, 2018
🏰 The 2018 vintage in Burgundy was generally warm and generous, producing ripe, opulent wines with good concentration and supple tannins. Joseph Drouhin's Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru 2018 is described as having a beautiful, intense ruby-red color. The nose offers powerful yet refined aromas, reminiscent of black cherry and dark chocolate when young, evolving with age. Other tasting notes include perfectly ripe strawberries with raspberry and citrus undertones, and a savory, lightly meaty highlight. On the palate, it's medium-to full-bodied with fine tannins nicely wrapped in ripe fruit, velvety, and full-bodied with a perfect balance of fruit and tannins, leading to a long and complex finish. 【 A stunning example of Burgundy's terroir with excellent aging potential 】. This wine is already balanced and attractive but will deliver even more in the future, with recommendations to enjoy it after 2023.
🍴 This magnificent Grand Cru Pinot Noir is an ideal partner for hearty and refined dishes. Think beef bourguignon, coq au vin, roasted game (like venison or pheasant), or truffle-infused poultry. It also pairs wonderfully with mature French cheeses.
🥂 Perfect for a grand celebration, a significant milestone, or a luxurious dinner where a truly exceptional Burgundy is desired. Its complexity and aging potential make it a wine for contemplation and appreciation.
BACKGROUND
Joseph Drouhin is one of Burgundy's most important wine producers, France. The primary grape variety is Pinot Noir, with a small portion being Chardonnay. Founded in Beaune in 1880, the domaine has expanded throughout the 20th Century to include vineyards in Chablis, the Côte de Nuits, the Côte de Beaune and the Côte Chalonnaise, making everything from simple, village-level cuvées to highly priced grand cru and premier cru wines from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
