Joseph Drouhin, Griotte Chambertin Grand Cru, 2018
🏰 【Joseph Drouhin 2018 Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru is a jewel from Burgundy, known for its distinctive sour-cherry note and Drouhin's biodynamic approach.】 The 2018 vintage showcases a warm and generous character, balanced by Drouhin's signature restraint. Expect complex and subtle aromas of cherry liqueur, preserved cherry, fine leather, and nutmeg, evolving into hints of truffle and venison with age. Burghound notes a fresh, cool, and densely fruited nose with menthol, cassis, smoked game, earth, anise, and floral characters, leading to refined, medium-weight flavors with minerality and a hint of bitter cherry.
🍴 This elegant red Burgundy pairs beautifully with roasted poultry, game birds like duck or pheasant, mushroom-based dishes, and mild, earthy cheeses.
🥂 Perfect for a sophisticated dinner, a special anniversary, or a serious wine tasting where its nuanced complexity can be fully appreciated.
BACKGROUND
Joseph Drouhin is one of Burgundy's most important wine producers, France. The primary grape variety is Pinot Noir, with a small portion being Chardonnay. Founded in Beaune in 1880, the domaine has expanded throughout the 20th Century to include vineyards in Chablis, the Côte de Nuits, the Côte de Beaune and the Côte Chalonnaise, making everything from simple, village-level cuvées to highly priced grand cru and premier cru wines from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
