FEATURES
🏰news | features + short tasting note 【A Pauillac Fourth Cru Classé from the exceptional 1988 vintage, offering remarkable richness and complexity.】 The 1988 Bordeaux vintage saw a mild, wet winter followed by a hot, dry spring and summer with well-distributed rainfall, leading to optimum ripeness. This wine displays an intense garnet-red color with tiled highlights. The nose is complex and enchanting, revealing aromas of red and black fruits, cedar, tobacco, and mocha. On the palate, it is powerful and elegant, with good acidity and a silky tannic structure, where flavors of fruit and spice combine with notes of mocha and dark chocolate for a long, persistent finish. Expect tertiary notes of forest floor, chocolate, and cigar box, with a balanced profile that improves over time. 🍴 Chinese Cantonese food pairing various types of suggestion east or west corresponding to wine cost IN ENGLISH This mature Bordeaux pairs beautifully with grilled red meats, game, and blue-veined cheeses. Consider a classic dry-aged filet mignon with roasted mushrooms, or herb-roasted quail with asparagus and sauteed mushrooms. For a more casual yet elegant pairing, slow-cooked beef over cheesy polenta or a simple roast chicken with starchy vegetables would be excellent. 🥂 fit for event suggestion IN ENGLISH An exceptional wine for laying down, this 1988 Duhart-Milon is already offering an exceptional taste experience, perfect for intimate dinners or special occasions where a complex, mature Bordeaux is highly appreciated. Serving: This wine is fully mature and should be served at 15.5°C (60°F) to enhance its freshness. Decant briefly, just enough to remove any sediment, as older vintages require minimal aeration.
BACKGROUND
Château Duhart-Milon, previously known as Duhart-Milon-Rothschild, is a winery in the Pauillac appellation of the Médoc, and ranked as a fourth growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. The single 73-hectare (180-acre) vineyard block is situated just to the west of Lafite Rothschild, facing Lafon-Rochet in Saint-Estèphe. The soils are a mix of fine gravel and sand on limestone, and are planted two-thirds to Cabernet Sauvignon and one-third to Merlot, although the precise proportion of the grand vin blend can vary with each vintage – for example, the 2012 features 53 percent Merlot.
