🏰 D'Auvenay Meursault Les Narvaux 2011 is a Chardonnay of exceptional depth and clarity from the legendary Lalou Bize-Leroy, meticulously farmed with rigorous biodynamic methods, offering precision and energy from its high-altitude limestone terroir. While 2011 was a difficult vintage for Burgundy generally, this specific wine benefited from a warmer and sunnier than usual growing season, lending a touch more roundness while preserving its incisive, mineral-driven character.
🍴 This brilliant golden yellow wine with green reflections offers an intricate nose of lime peel, yellow flowers, chalk, crushed herbs, fresh almonds, with hints of honey and flint. The palate is precise and textural, with bright acidity and a saline backbone, balanced by a rounded mid-palate, finishing long on notes of citrus zest and mineral tension. It can also show gorgeous buttery popcorn notes and seductive ripe orchard fruits. This elegant Meursault is a perfect match for luxurious dishes such as lobster, sole meunière, dishes with white truffle, or aged cheeses like Comté. It also pairs beautifully with sushi, freshwater fish in white sauce, pasta and risottos with seafood, or various goat and blue cheeses.
🥂 This exquisite Meursault is ideal for a sophisticated dinner, a special celebration, or as a highlight of a fine wine tasting. Its complexity and aging potential make it a truly rewarding experience. Serve at 12–14°C, ideally in large Burgundy stemware, and allow it to breathe for 30 minutes before tasting to fully appreciate its nuanced bouquet and profound palate.
BACKGROUND
Domaine d Auvenay is a small Burgundy wine estate located in Saint-Roman. It is the third entity in the Leroy empire, named after Lalou Bize-Leroy and was previously run by her husband Marcel Bize until his death in 2004. There are 4 hectares (10 acres) of vines, but these include plots of the Grand Cru Mazis-Chambertin, Bonnes-Mares and Bâtard-Montrachet, as well as a handful of top cru vineyards, including Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières and Meursault les Gouttes d 'Or.
