🏰 The 2001 Burgundy vintage was generally good, though not a blockbuster, characterized by a cool, wet, and cloudy year with a late and drawn-out flowering. The Côte de Nuits, where Bonnes Mares is located, fared better than the Côte de Beaune, receiving warmer, drier weather. Reds from 2001 are noted for precision, definition, good acidity, firmer tannins, and more substance than the 2000 vintage. Lalou Bize-Leroy's Domaine d'Auvenay is renowned for its meticulous biodynamic practices and extremely limited production, making its wines highly sought after. Expect a wine with precision and definition, showcasing sweet red and blue fruit with a touch of smoke, and a wonderfully perfumed nose. It can be cool, airy, round, sweet, and sleek on the palate, with a long finish and a syrupy texture, often described as having the "Leroy energy and excitement" but restrained and finessed. Some notes mention classic Chambolle characteristics and a hint of pine. 【Lalou Bize-Leroy的生物動力學傑作,稀有且極具陳年潛力】
🍴 Given its complexity and pedigree, this red Burgundy would shine with equally refined dishes such as roasted game birds (duck, pheasant), truffle-infused preparations, or a perfectly cooked beef tenderloin with a light reduction.
🥂 A truly exceptional wine for a very special, intimate gathering of serious wine collectors or a significant personal milestone. This is a contemplative wine that demands attention.
BACKGROUND
Domaine d Auvenay is a small Burgundy wine estate located in Saint-Roman. It is the third entity in the Leroy empire, named after Lalou Bize-Leroy and was previously run by her husband Marcel Bize until his death in 2004. There are 4 hectares (10 acres) of vines, but these include plots of the Grand Cru Mazis-Chambertin, Bonnes-Mares and Bâtard-Montrachet, as well as a handful of top cru vineyards, including Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières and Meursault les Gouttes d 'Or.
