FEATURES
🏰 Henri Bonneau is a legendary producer in Chateauneuf du Pape, known for his traditional, intuitive winemaking and his iconic Reserve des Celestins, which is his "grand vin" and made only in top vintages. The 1984 vintage in the Rhone Valley was generally considered average or difficult, but the Chateauneuf du Pape appellation was noted as an exception, with some producers, like Henri Bonneau, able to produce good quality wines despite the challenging conditions. Bonneau's wines are known for their fantastic complexity, immense character, and ability to age for decades. This 1984 Henri Bonneau Chateauneuf du Pape Reserve des Celestins, from a challenging but exceptional vintage for this producer, would be a profoundly mature and complex wine. Expect a bouquet of dried red and black fruits, garrigue, leather, tobacco, and earthy notes, with a potential hint of spice. The palate would be soft and elegant, with fully integrated tannins and a long, contemplative finish, showcasing the unique character of aged Grenache from a master winemaker. 🍴 This venerable Chateauneuf du Pape would be magnificent with slow-cooked lamb shank, roasted venison, or a rich wild mushroom ragu. For an Asian pairing, consider a deeply flavored Cantonese braised abalone or a traditional claypot rice with preserved meats. 🥂 【A truly historic and profound wine for a once-in-a-lifetime tasting or a very significant personal milestone】, offering a rare opportunity to experience the magic of Henri Bonneau from a mature vintage. This wine is extremely old and requires the utmost care. Stand the bottle upright for at least a week to allow all sediment to settle. Use a two-pronged Ah-So opener or a Durand to remove the potentially fragile cork. Decant very gently, just before serving, watching carefully for any sediment. Serve at 17-18°C (62-64°F). Be prepared for bottle variation and appreciate the unique journey this wine offers.
