De La Romanee Conti, Romanee Saint Vivant Grand Cru, 1992
🏰 【A rare gem from a storied vintage, this 1992 Jean Jacques Confuron Romanee Saint Vivant Grand Cru embodies the delicate power of Burgundy's most revered terroir.】 Romanée-Saint-Vivant, a Grand Cru in Vosne-Romanée, is celebrated for producing sensual, full, and precise wines with a delicate touch, stemming from its unique clay-rich soils. While specific vintage reports for 1992 are scarce, Romanée-Saint-Vivant wines are known for their exceptional aging potential, often developing complexity for two to three decades, making this a beautifully mature expression. Expect intricate aromatic and flavor complexities, with intense dark berry aromas of blackberries, cherries, and raspberries, complemented by ethereal rose petals and zesty orange rind. Herbal nuances of aromatic bark and forest floor notes intertwine with vibrant red berries and a tannic complexity reminiscent of black tea, warmed by clove spices. The palate offers a plush, silky mouthfeel with fine tannins, leading to a long finish echoing red fruit and mineral notes.
🍴 This elegant red 布根地 (Burgundy) wine is a perfect match for sophisticated dishes. Consider seared duck breast with a cherry reduction, herb-crusted rack of lamb, or a rich wild mushroom risotto. It also harmonizes beautifully with aged cheddar, creamy brie, or a grand beef Wellington. For a truly regional pairing, try it with Epoisses de Bourgogne cheese.
🥂 This is an ideal wine for a truly special occasion, a gourmet experience, or for discerning collectors who appreciate the profound evolution of aged Burgundy. Given its age, expect an old-world style with developed tertiary aromas. It's a gentle reminder that older wines may have fragile corks and capsules, so careful opening is advised. Serve this mature beauty at around 16-18°C (61-64°F) and consider decanting for 30-60 minutes to allow its complex bouquet to fully unfold, especially if sediment is present.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Jean Jacques Confuron is a wine producer located in Premeaux, near Nuits-Saint-Georges in the Côte de Nuits, Burgund, France. The viticultural portfolio is now approximately 95-percent Pinot Noir with small plantings of Chardonnay and Aligoté. The domaine has 8 hectares (19 acres) of vines across 14 appellations, including plots in the prestigious grand cru vineyards Clos de Vougeot and Romanée-Saint-Vivant. The domaine began with the marriage of Jean Confuron and Anne Marie Bouchard in 1926, bringing together the vineyards of two different families. These vineyards have been passed through the family since, and the domaine has expanded as well, picking up plots in the prestigious grand cru sites.
