FEATURES
🏰The 2022 Clos L'Eglise is a Pomerol of 【new-level quality, offering opulent concentration and remarkable freshness】 even in a hot, dry vintage. This blend, featuring a higher percentage of Cabernet Franc, boasts a deep garnet-purple color. Expect a floral nose with chocolate, plum, licorice, smoke, and truffle accents. The palate is deep, concentrated, and sexy, with molten dark chocolate-coated black plums, vibrant red berry fruit, rose petal, and a long, mineral-laced finish supported by very firm, ripe tannins.
🍴 This rich and structured Pomerol is an ideal partner for beef and venison. Its depth also complements classic meat dishes, roasted game, and dishes featuring truffles or dark chocolate elements.
🥂 A wine of character that will reward patience, making it excellent for cellaring. It's also suitable for a sophisticated dinner or a special occasion, though it will benefit from significant decanting in its youth.
Serving Suggestion: As a very young wine, decant for at least 2-3 hours to allow its powerful structure to soften and its complex aromas to unfold. Serve at 15.5°C (60°F).
BACKGROUND
With a vineyard area of 2.2 hectares, Chateau Pomeaux is one of the oldest wineries in Pomerol, with records dating back to at least 1785. Located on the southeastern slopes of the Pomerol plateau, with clay and iron subsoils, it is dedicated to the cultivation of Merlot grapes, with an average age of 45 years, capable of producing wines of the highest quality. The grapes are hand picked and selected through pruning, green harvest and late harvest to ensure maximum ripeness. Only 8,000 bottles of high-quality wine are produced each year, demonstrating the owner's commitment to sacrificing quantity for quality. The vineyard's dedication to terroir and the use of top-notch viticulture and winemaking techniques result in unique, rich and complex wines that have received rave reviews from professional wine journalists.
