🏰 The 2020 Jean Marc Boillot Puligny Montrachet Champ Canet 1er Cru is celebrated for its 【electric salty drive and cut-glass definition】, a hallmark of this esteemed Premier Cru. The 2020 vintage in Puligny-Montrachet was warm and early, yielding concentrated wines with good phenolic ripeness and a delightful interplay of honeyed fruit and freshness. This white Burgundy, from a vineyard bordering Meursault, typically presents an elegant and balanced profile. Expect a fine pale lemon and lime color, with a classy nose revealing ripe lemon notes and quality white fruit, culminating in a fresh, crystalline, and persistent finish. Some tasters also note a broad nose of white and yellow fruit, a slight oily edge, and hints of quince and mandarin, leading to a delicious, medium-bodied palate. Others describe a very perfumed character, a super silky texture with power and finesse akin to a Grand Cru, and a massive finish of tangy pineapple, alongside a cool, steely, mineral style with a delicious bitterness like pink grapefruit.
🍴 This refined Puligny-Montrachet is a superb match for delicate yet rich dishes. Consider pairing it with grilled lobster with lemon butter, pan-seared scallops with ceps, or Bresse chicken in a creamy sauce. It also beautifully complements foie gras, crawfish, grilled or fried sea-fish, and creamy pasta dishes. For cheese, aged Comté or fresh goat cheese would be excellent choices.
🥂 Perfect for a sophisticated dinner party or a special celebration, this wine is ready to impress. Its elegance and complexity make it ideal for moments when you want to showcase a truly distinguished white Burgundy.
BACKGROUND
Domaine J.M. Boillot (also known as Domaine Jean-Marc Boillot) is a Burgundy wine estate producing pure, aromatic wines from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The operation is based in Pommard but it makes a large range of wines from numerous appellations mostly located in the Côte de Beaune. Jean-Marc Boillot worked with his grandfather Henri Boillot between the late 60s and 1984 when he became winemaker for Olivier Leflaive. He created his own domaine in 1989 after inheriting vines from his grandfather, and later from his maternal grandmother, Etienne Sauzet's daughter.
