🏰 The 2018 Chateau Belgrave is a 【powerful and deeply colored Haut-Medoc Fifth Growth】, showcasing enjoyable depth and a classic profile. The 2018 vintage, marked by a warm growing season, yielded wines with firm, integrated tannins and a rich concentration. Expect notes of blackberry, blackcurrant, cassis, vanilla, crushed hazelnut, gravel, and violets, complemented by hints of sandalwood, leafy tobacco, and cedar. It offers a medium-bodied palate with appealing freshness and a polished, chewy texture, promising excellent aging potential.
🍴 This classic Bordeaux red pairs beautifully with all types of classic meat dishes such as roasted beef, lamb, duck, or game. It also complements hearty stews, mushroom dishes, and even Asian cuisine. Consider pairing with goose breast with ginger-red cabbage or vegetable couscous with beef meatballs.
🥂 Ideal for a formal dinner, a special celebration, or as a thoughtful gift for a Bordeaux lover. It's drinking well now but will continue to evolve gracefully through 2036.
BACKGROUND
Château Belgrave is a Bordeaux producer in the Haut-Médoc district, at the border with Saint-Julien. Its grand vin is a Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant red blend with Merlot and historically Cabernet Franc, though this has recently been replaced with small amounts of Petit Verdot. The estate was classed as a Fifth Growth in the 1855 classification of the Médoc and Graves, but was known as Château Coutanceau at the time and throughout the 19th Century.
